Verse 1:

  C#m B C#m E B C#m
It's of a farmer's daughter, so beautiful I'm told,
     E B C#m G#m
Her parents died and left her with five hundred pounds in gold,
   C#m B C#m E B
She lived with her uncle, the source of all her woe,
  E E/D# B C#m
As you will hear, this maiden did prove his overthrow.

C#m B E B C#m
[the last bar of the main riff]

Her uncle had a plough-boy, Young Mary loved full well,
And in her uncle's garden their tales of love did tell,
There was a wealthy squire who oft came her to see,
But still she loved her plough-boy on the banks of sweet Dundee

Refrain:
F#m
Her uncle rose one morning and then went straightway,
E
and knocked at her bedroom door and unto her thus did say,
F#m
Come rise up fair maiden, a lady you shall be,
E
For the squire is waiting for you on the banks of sweet Dundee
D C#m
A fig for all your squires, your lords and dukes likewise.
E F#m
My Williams hand appears to me like diamonds in my eyes

second guitar plays this:
e|--12--12p9----9-------12--12p9-12p9----9-------12--12p9----9---------------|
